New Human Study finds that Aloe vera enhances bioavailability of vitamins B12 and C and ORAC among mature adults

2007-08-02 - The International Aloe Science Council

Irving, TX – Aloe vera is a powerful complement to other supplements, enhancing their absorbance and effects, according to a recent bioavailability study . Both Aloe vera gel and whole leaf Aloe were tested in the randomized cross-over trial, with the gel demonstrating the strongest results in promoting the absorbance of vitamins C and B12. It only took one ounce of Aloe to have substantial effects in enhancing the absorption of a 500mg dose of vitamin C and 1mg dose of B12.

Analysis of Aloe Polysaccharides

Quantitative Colorimetric Analysis of Aloe Polysaccharides as a Measure of Aloe Vera Quality in Commercial Products

A recent publication from the AOAC -Association of Analytical Chemists International-, authored by Alexis R. Eberendu, Gabriela Luta, Joshua A. Edwards, Bill H. McAnalley, Brice Davis, and C. Ray Henry has been released.

Abstract:

Aloe vera inner leaf gel has been used as a medicinal remedy for many years. Yet some aloe products do not demonstrate beneficial effects, indicating that poor quality products are reaching the market.

Aloe vera tech to boost absorption of nutritional powders

1/25/2006 - Nutritional powders supplier Nutri Pharmaceuticals Research will introduce a range of products with higher bioavailability thanks to a technology based on aloe vera.

Recent research on aloe vera has shown that certain extracts of the plant can slow down the body's absorption of vitamins E and C and keep the nutrients in blood plasma for longer.

A small clinical trial reported in the November 2005 issue of Phytomedicine found that use of aloe vera improved the bioavailability of vitamin E by over 200 percent. Vitamin E is one of NPRI's top ten products.
